Mike and Charlene - The China Adventure
Latin Theme Birthday Party at Oscar and Marisela's House with friends from China, Mexico, Venezula, Canada, and the US Welcome to our China Adventure!!! 你好!nǐ hǎo As we begin our 4th year in China, the adventure continues. It is amazing just how quickly it has passed.
2010 has been a great year for us. A lot of new experiences, new friends, lots of travel, visitors. Needless to say, we have been busy.
Charlene's sister Sandy came to China for a visit in late January. This was her 2nd trip to the middle kingdom. It was nice to have some company for a few weeks. We took her to Hong Kong for a week-end, rode the Star Ferry, went to the top of Victoria Peak , strolled the HK Walk of Fame, and finished off the evening at Lan Kwai Fan.
This is the year of the Tiger and we celebrated Chinese New Year with a trip to Hua Hin, Thailand at the end of February. Nice beach, warm weather, very relaxing.
In March we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Bali. Another nice beach, more warm weather (actually hot weather), again very relaxing.
In April we attended the 6th annual IMM executive conference with friends in Guancaste Costa Rica. The beach was not so nice, but the weather and the company was great. No cell phone service for a week!
So we started out the year with 3 vacations, in 3 different months, at 3 different beaches, in 3 different countries!
Sadly, there were no trips to the beach in May but that didn't slow down the adventure. Michelle, Roland, and Christopher came to China in May for about 10 days. It was a quick visit but we all had a great time. It was fun just being together.
In June, Charlene made her 3rd trip to see Christopher in Sydney since we came to China. It is winter there in June so the weather was a little "iffy" at times, but they had a great time together exploring the many wonderful sites of Sydney.
And now it is July. Summer has arrived in full force in Shanghai, as has the "plum rain". It has rained just about everyday for the past 3 weeks with no end in sight. World Expo 2010 has had more than 20 million visitors since it opened in May, and everyone here has World Cup fever.
Charlene will head back to the US mid month for a few weeks to see family and friends in Atlanta, Virginia, and Memphis.
Looking ahead, we will move into a new apartment (we love to move) at the beginning of August. It is a little bigger than what have now, and a lot closer to church, friends, shopping, etc.
Anyway, the adventure continues. Check out the site. There are a bunch of new pictures, some new links, and even a few short video clips.
As always, if you are ever in the neighborhood and need a place to stay, gives us a call.
再见!zài jiàn !
